Any thought that we were going to become a 10 win team this season based on one good year was unrealistic. Let's not forget that we are, right now, in the same spot we were last year at this time. We just need to do what we did last year - win the games we should and pull out a victory in a couple of underdog games. Do that, and we will get some validation/respect.

I agree, but the goal for MSU, umiss, Kentucky, Vandy should be FIVE straight bowl games and winning at least FOUR of them. Doesn't matter if two of them are the LIBERTY BOWL. Until this happens we should keep the letters BCS out of our mouths as pertaining to us.
Five years of being the hunted and still winning will do wonders for your program. Think of how many years it took Boise just winning the humanitarian bowl. And finally they got and are getting their shot over the last couple of years.

Pretty good point here about Boise winning the Humanitarian Bowl over and over. I've said a couple times that I would be pissed with Liberty or Birmingham (whatever it is now. BB&T Compass Bowl or something) but on second thought just getting to Bowl games for the next few seasons is a step in the right direction. Although it will be difficult to take Memphis or B'ham after going to Jacksonville last year.

Here is a phenomenon that we all know, but perhaps have overlooked. The transition from being the hunter to being the hunted is not easy. And walking in new expectations for the first time, isn't easy. The validation process is brutal. Let's look at some teams this year that's trying to validate that they belong on their respective next level based upon previous season.
MSU, Florida State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Arkansas, South Carolina.
All of these schools were predicted to go to the next level, all these fan bases are as stoked as an O-Lineman walking up to an all you can eat buffet. However, the problem is when you've never been there (fsu, ND too long to remember) then you must validate that you belong there and that my friends is not easy.
South Carolina is more stacked than they've ever been and was down big to east Carolina, almost lost to navy.
Arkansas is toast, not cause of what bama did to them, but what troy did to them, troy dominated the 4th quarter. Now as their injuries mount up, write em off. Remember this team was many peoples dark horse to finish 1 or 2 in west. If state beats UGA, look for them to finish 3rd in west.
Notre dame been giving away games like Halloween candy. Remember their fans were thinking BCS.
Michigan State, they got blasted by ND.
Florida State, we won peach bowl, we had top 5 recruiting class, WE'RE BACK!! Maybe someone should've told Oklahoma & Clemson.
BONUS: UMISS 2009
Ranked as high as #4, HEISMAN trophy candidate, back to back cotton bowl. But they failed to realize a bear can't climb that high. So the validation process shot him down.
You see its not a MSU thing, It's simply the validation process which just happens to be a brutal endeavour. But with time, patience and hard work it can be done!
