It's boring and they're doing a terrible job of promoting it this time around. Phelps was the poster child last time. We don't have a face to pull for. I also wonder if a lot of sponsorships have pulled out. Usually Coke has it plastered all over TV, but I haven't seen much about it.

The biggest problem though is it's boring. 1,000's of people don't show up to watch track, swim meets, wrestling, gymnastics, freaking table tennis, etc... They have to make us care about the participants or people won't tune in. There's too many pointless events also. Outside of the luge, nothing else is riviting. Until they implement BASEketball they're going to struggle.

I'll watch track, skiing, boxing, and basketball but that's about it. World Cup and lack or American Football also hurt.

Very true Swamp. That was a huge rivalry that just disappered. Beating China is still fun though.

For the sake of the Olympics, we need a reemergence of communism. :-0

I think it's still interesting, but the build-up to the games may not be as dramatic since the end of the Cold War.

Track and field is always interesting to me. If you all haven't been watching our women's sprinters preparing, you've missed a treat. They are dominant.

I also like swimming and diving and gymnastics. There always seems to be some drama there. Cheating and such.

Volleyball. No explanation needed for women's volleyball.

I rarely watch tv, but I'll be tuned in for the entire two weeks pulling for the good ol' U. S. of A.

When I mentioned it earlier I was thinking they started in late June and went to mid-July, vice late July to mid-August. By mid-August we'll be fully in fall football mode, and that's where my attention will be focused, as I'm sure most here will be too.

Oh well, at least there's Wimbledon.

It's a sad world when iPhones and iPads have become "things to do" over sports.

I feel the opening ceremony is still as popular as ever. The opening ceremonies in Beijing were amazing.
