SEC Baseball Standings (2 series left)

  • Well, that is if Vandy and LSU hold on and both have big leads late in the game. Assuming both win, here is what the standings would look like:

    Western Division
    LSU 16-8
    Arkansas 12-12
    MSU 12-12
    Ole Miss 11-13
    Auburn 10-14
    Alabama 7-17

    Eastern Division
    South Carolina 16-8
    Kentucky 15-9
    Florida 14-10
    Georgia 12-12
    Vandy 11-13
    Tennessee 8-16

So if we win 1 more game we eliminate Alabama from the SECT, 2 eliminates Tennessee, even if they both go 6-0?

ETA: Tenn has Ole Miss and Ark left, Bama has KY and UGA

boy how huge are those blown leads in 8th and 9th innings against LSU, USC, and Bama. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but we could be sitting at 15-9 tied with LSU and USC for overall SEC lead with the head to head over LSU. Oh well let's go take 2 in gainsville.

Had THREE batters in the 9th today to get ONE more out and couldn't do it. Just doing that would put us in sole possession of second place in the West at 13-11. Hate the game today ended up being so dependent on the ball that got called foul off the batters foot because apparently there were differing opinions among the umpires about whether it did or not.

True, but we could also easily be 9-15 because we beat ole miss on 2 singles and beat Alabama yesterday with 3 hits and beat someone else that I can't remember with 4 hits. All of those could have very easily been losses, so I'll take 12-12 with the way we are hitting.

  • Seven- Reed is not being over-used. He's 14th in the SEC in appearances. You Cohen-bashers need find something else to complain about.

    1. Nick Goody, LS............. 27
    2. Jake Hubbard, UA........... 26
    Chris Cotton, LS........... 26
    Tyler Webb, SC............. 26
    5. Austin Maddox, UF.......... 25
    Brian Miller, VU........... 25
    Steven Rodriguez, UF....... 25
    8. Nick Rumbelow, LS.......... 24
    Colby Suggs, AR............ 24
    10.Bryan Benzor, UG........... 23
    Tim Peterson, UK........... 23
    12.2 tied at.................. 22

College pitchers get alot of time to recharge once their season ends in June. They arent over-worked in Summer ball by any stretch of the imagination- and then they get a break before Fallball begins. And you know they dont get over-used during Fall practice.

He simply isnt having as good of a season as last year. It happens in baseball- ALOT

So let's take the leader shall we.....Nick Goody was in JUCO last yr(drafted by the Yankees by the way)....not pitching in the SEC....so he doesn't have the 2 yrs of that kind of work facing high A level type talent like the SEC is... plus he's only pitched in 25 innings....Goody 27 app 25 innings pitched....Reed 21 app 42innings pitched....try again!

Reed damn near has 20 more innings of work than the guy with the most app in the SEC...talk about helping my point here...lol thanks!:)

  • Will Bracewell be back this weekend, or is he likely done for the year again?

    uhhhhh, what? Making your point?

    1. Getting loose and actually making the appearance is the hardest part- there is no difference in a 10 pitch outing or 25 pitches for the most part. Its when you get to the 35-40 pitch level you need to make sure you get a day off.

    2. Maddox- Fla- 25 appearances- 45 innings......1.58 ERA

    3. Tyler Webb- SC- 26 apps- 35 innings...1.82 ERA

    4. Steven Rodriguez- Fla- 25 apps- 46 innings- 1.94 ERA

    5. Miller- Vandy- 26 apps- 46 innings- 3.46 ERA

So, yet aGAIN- I show you that we arent over-using Reed or doing anything that other teams arent doing with success

Let's start with Maddox shall we....he's also started 17 games as a everyday guy...arm is built up..usetto doing all kinds of things from starting...to playing the field..to middle rel...to closing.been doing this since he's been at Fla...only pitched 27innings the yr before not much wear....also sharing the load with 2 other bullpen guys that have 40innings.

Rodriguez has two other guys helping him in the bullpen...also doesn't have the wear on him from the yr before...

Webb started 5 games last yr and still only has help in the bullpen from 2 other guys with more innings than him...plus he isn't the closer.

Miller is a true Fr no must wear and there is no help out there...Vandy's bullpen is bad!

The fact of the matter is Reed pitched almost 40more innings the year before than any guy you listed...he threw 100pitches out the gate ,,,started a game this yr in a dumb move...has had ZERO help for two years everything has fell on him...kid is burnt out...this is a closer we're talking about here man...not sure why this is hard to understand..every guy you listed are middle guys not the closer!

it's hard to understand because your thinking is wrong.

Every one of those guys pitched last year also- on some level- SEC or not. Caleb Reed wasnt the only guy in the SEC to pitch last season.
And your position player argument is ridiculous- it's HARDER to be a position player that throws alot and still has to pitch- your arm never feels full strength.

I've showed you that you're wrong about every way I can- not sure what else to do here

What does last year have to do with this year?????? Caleb's arm had plenty of time to recover from last year to this year as does every pitcher with experience in baseball. Last year he was very effective but this year hitters, especially lefties in conference play, seem to have figured him out which is part of baseball.

He is still effective against righties and I expect him to continue to pitch very well to them. Overuse?? I don't think so, lefties have seen enough film of him to figure him out, that's about it
