OT- Starkville Food

  • They contracted out the Cafeteria and it is crap now, It was one of the reasons I chose to go to State and now I think it would likely make me take state off the list if i had to do it all over.

Not going to help out now...but, hands down the best burger I've ever eaten and definitely in Starkville was at Sonny's. I think it was on 16 Section Road...owned and run by Roosevelt Nichols until he passed away. It was only open Thursday thru Sunday - INCREDIBLE burger, sure do miss having 2 meals per weekend devoted to a Sonny's cheeseburger. Pretty cheap eating, too.

    Anybody remember this place?

This times 10. I cant eat hamburgers now because they do not come close to the Sonny's burger. That think was damnnnnnnn good. Could get a double triple or even quad. Dipped in spicy or mild sauce...literally dipped.
The sweet tea was so rich, you could let it sit out for a day and pour it on your pancakes the next morning as syrup.
    RIP 3 fingered man.

You picked your higher education choice based partly on cafeteria food? Wow.

Quite frankly, food quality and price for 4-5 yrs is probably a top ten on why choose a college. Truth be told, one of my childhood memories was getting to eat Mac n cheese at the old perry cafeteria before a game. Also, my dad still talks about the breakfast cooking man at State when he attended...

Atleast he didnt pick his college because of a woman..WOW.

Good food definitely makes a place feel more like home. And feeling at home and comfortable on campus is something I based my choice for higher education on. I would advise my kids to take it into consideration.

  • Thread hijack but similar discussion...

Wasn't there a 4 or 5 star recruit from around the Carolinas that picked Clemson over someone else because they had a Chick-fil-a on campus?

Things we love about the South: The hospitality, the warm weather, the food ... especially the food. And we’re not the only ones. Even on National Signing Day, a southern delicacy seems to have played a part in Cassanova McKinzys college pick.
