I was not bashing the kid. I simply said he quit on
the school he grew up loving. That is facts, not assumptions. Rodney may be a great kid, but he wasn't faithful to Bulldog nation. He signed to play Basketball for Mississippi State University and as a lifetime Bulldog, he should have held to it. I truly wish him the best, I really do, but he is not going to be a star. I'll man up and say I'm wrong if he ever becomes one. I will also go on record and say I pray that he proves me wrong. I will not wish bad on any 18-19 year old kid. This post has been edited 2 times, most recently by Mr_AK47 on 4/24/2012 at 12:35 PM

MSU basketball quit on Hood as well. If the company you work for changes bosses and your coworkers are laid off or leave for other jobs and you get a better offer and you turn it down to stay loyal instead of bettering your situation, then IMO, you are illogical. I dont understand you fans blinded by your love for State. This isnt CJ Johnson selling his soul to go to a worse situation for a Chevy truck and costing HIS future of millions in the future. I dont wish him well. This is a kid who (and i said this 2 years ago that Hoood was making a mistake signing with State) bought into the recruiting speak of we are building something great here at MSU and find out later that the program is in the worst shape its been in forever. And yall are mad about him jumpoing out the window of this burning building? And your only justification is well, when it was just smoke, he said he would stick around. Well that smoke has turned into a gasoline fire and i cant blame him for leaving. Sad part is, ones that are blaming him aren't even renewing your season tickets or buying them all together. I wish Rodney well. And one more point, he's definitely not a superstar that can carry a team one on one but he still has NBA potential. That's even more reaon to go to a better situation (a team with a talented PG) than stay here at MSU where you cant maximize your skill set with no point guard. Take off your maroon glasses and think if this was your child for a second. This isnt a quitting situation. This is a situation where you are bettering your situation. This reminds me of hood people that get mad at others for moing out the hood (no pun intended) to the suburbs and people call them sell outs cause they are turning their back on their people and not sticking around to help the old hood when they need them the most. Ridiculous!

He'll get to 20 wins after we rebuild a couple of seasons. Let's remember we are in this mess because of Stansbury.
And that is just what happens when coaches get to the end of their time- Jackie was retired because of his last 3 seasons, not his first 10. Polk was led into retirement because he knew he had let the program bottom out and he didnt have the desire to get out there to recruit and bring it back. You have to actually credit Stricklin, because he actually got Stansbury out a year early before the losing was going to really start and the program bottom out.
You know as well as I do it's damn hard to recruit this time of year. There arent very many BCS-caliber players left out there to sign. Ray is going to be judged from next April forward. This next 12 months is the Stands mess he has endure and clean up. He is already changing the mentality of the program- and that is great news for us. At least we are finally moving in the right direction.

First off it quit being Stansbury's problem the moment he retired. Ray is being paid million dollars to be head basketball coach,if he can not keep players from leaving that is his problem not Stansbury . I am waiting to see what he does as far as new players and keeping who we have . If Hood comes back great. Ray does not get a free pass for next year,I expect a winning season and post season action. He gets paid to do that
You know years ago I took over a job from a person who was retired kind of like this . I would bitch at my boss about the mess Joe left me . Some of the best advice was given to me then ,my boss said get to work it is YOUR job now do it ,Joe gone. Well Stans is gone our new coach does not need your help. The man just need to produce end of story.
Living in fear is just another way of dying before your time

My thoughts on the state of the MSU basketball program:
