    Saw on 6pack where MVSU has to cancel their game with MSU that would have opened the 2013 season. If that is the case, who would you like to see us pick up for that game? Our out of conference schedule is South Alabama, Bowling Green, and Troy.

    I know MSU would like to schedule an easy win, but I would like to see them schedule a high-major team. I think a marquee national would do wonders for MSU's national profile. USC, Ohio State, Florida State, or Miami would be great games to put MSU on the national stage.

    Unless we have a great year this year, 2 of the 4 games would probably not even make national tv. Miami for sure wouldn't, and I'm pretty sure Florida State wouldn either. USC could very well not either.

    FSU is back on the rise and Miami still has a huge national fan base.

  • I think some of you are so focused on six wins and beating Ole Miss that you don't think of the big picture. Everyone hypes up how Mullen will get MSU to the promise land, but no one thinks about what it will take. Winning games on the national stage help with that. There are a lot of people that have no clue about what MSU is about or Mississippi for that matter.

    I don't know how many of you watch Necessary Roughness, but they had an athlete from East Mississippi State University. He talked about how he grew up around cows and cornfields. Horrible job of disguising the name, but it spoke to the perception of Mississippi. I think playing games on a national stage would help with that perception. there is a chance MSU enters the 2013 season ranked in my opinion. I think a game versus a top-15 would be huge to start the season. No they don't want to get blown out the water, but I don't think they will.

    Miami doesn't even have a huge local fan base anymore, check the attendance numbers
    ETA..we did play a game on a national stage 2 years ago against college football's all-time winningest team andarguably college football's most recognizable football team. We beat the ever living crap out of them. How did that change our national perception?

    So we'll just buy Ole Miss' 2013 game at Texas to open the season.

    I am against playing tough non-conf games. But anyway...you couldn't be more wrong. Any time any SEC team plays a name brand non-conf opponent, TV is going to be all over it. Ratings are going to be huge for a regular season game.

    It was a bowl game. No one cares unless it's a B.C.S. game. Also Miami sports fans have always been terrible. They still have fans across the nation though.

    We aren't Boise State. Fortunately for us, our conference schedule is chock full of national stage teams.

    There is no need to make one of the nation's hardest schedules even harder by adding tougher non-conf opponents.

    How much does a clue cost these days? J Sizzle needs some donations.

    Riiigghhhttttt....Tell me what "national recognition" we have to show for all this:

    @Houston
    Georgia Tech
    Houston
    @Georgia Tech
    @West Virginia
    West Virginia
    Houston
    Oregon
    @Oregon
    @Houston
    BYU
    @BYU
    Oklahoma St
    @Oklahoma St
    @Baylor
    @Texas
    Texas

    Your whole line of thought shows all of us that you CLEARLY weren't a fan of MSU in the JWS era. Tough OOC games kept us home SEVERAL bowl seasons, and generally held the program back altogether. We lost OOC games in some of our best seasons, including 1998. What do we have to show for it?
