GO NASA!!!!!!

  • What an amazing acomplishment that everybody, in any and every uniform in the USA can yell about and regard as a touchdown and victory! Looks like such a complicated procedure in which so many things could have failed at any step, and OUR team executed it flawlessly! Can't wait for more info about it.

  • Would have been a acomplishment spending the 2.1 billion on helping the poor, helping the older folks who can't work, helping folks that can't pay their medical bills, and funding jobs! Get back to me if going there helps any of those things then we have something to be proud of!

All this acomplished was putting a car sized 2.1billion robot on Mars....great!Does it plan to bring back anything to help out the groups above???

That is all true Seven, but....If we were to find Unobtanium on Mars, what then? Thats really why we're there, because that little grey rock sells for $20 million a kilo. That's the only reason.

I'm all for what helps those groups out but would be a waste if that is the reason and find nothing and it cost 2 billion when it could have went to helping those groups out....I get what you're saying but the risk out weighs the reward when what's being risk is our dollors that I rather go to help the groups out above not some NASA folks.

I'd be willing to pay a little bit more taxes if I knew it was helping my fellow man that had it worse than I. I'm not much on politics but I know what I be willing to do would never happened atlest not for the cause that I would agree to.

You can thank NASA for all the technology you have right now. Every cell phone uses technology that NASA developed 30 years ago. Every time NASA has a breakthrough it causes a breakthrough in technology that we use. Do you know how many jobs are created by this? NASA has and always will be one of the best, if not the best, return on an investment made by the USA.

Sounds wonderful! All those breakthroughs and yet doesn't help any of what I listed...like I said to each his own!

You posted that using technology birthed by the space program. This technology has been the bedrock of our economy and others for about the last 25 years. That might have fed a few people.

R&D is a long term investment. You'll have to get over the society's show-me-now attitude to have a chance to see that.

It took decades for the aforementioned technology to make a real impact. I am glad nobody canceled NASA in the 60's. Thanks, JFK, who said "we do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard.

My prediction: the landing technology used will be used again to deliver large and sensitive support payloads to inaccessible areas. Like dropping a mobile hospital next to a Somalian village or something.

Again the 2 billion could have went to other things...like helping the poor, helping older folks with medical bills etc, adding new jobs that you don't have to go school yrs to get...I don't care what's on Mars I don't dwell there so could careless...I care about giving money to helping the above...again this is why I stay out of things like this...sadly I have to fund it.

Sure a lot of poor families could have used the funding to maybe help with something...not many of them going to get a NASA job you think???There is a lot of hard working honest people that need help...with my job I see it EVERYDAY...believe me NASA ain't helping them...and yet they have to fund it.That's what I call a acomplishment now a day not sending some junk to Mars...which they point blank said today was done in a 4 step process to have man on Mars in 2030...what a waste!

  • Did you read anything I posted? Most of what society thrives on today came from NASA technology decades earlier. To say this also feeds the poor is an understatement.

  • Not to mention that without long term R&D that is at every foundation of our economy, there would be countless more poor than we have now.

Don't just hand out fish. Teach a man to fish. Better yet - go invent materials that can be used for businesses to build fishing poles.
