    A. Quay Evans B. Richie Brown C. Quadry Antoine D. Devon Bell E. B.Holloway

    F. Someone Else

Your list is incomplete in my opinion. My top 5 list would be:

    1. Quay Evans
    2. Nick James
    3. Will Redmond
    4. Beniquez Brown
    5. Richie Brown

Quay Evans was in for spring, and a full six months working with Balis before the first game. I think he may have the biggest immediate impact. Nick James has to still clear the Clearinghouse, so may not be here until late July, but will play in the NT position. The strength of our defense is LB. The weakness is Safety, especially SS. Beniquez Brown is about 6-1 210, and I keep hearing his natural position is SS. I hear Redmond wants to play offense. Typically that means he will likely take time to learn the system. Richie Brown is a very fast, very smart athlete, and I haven't a clue why he was not a 4 star? I think he plays right away on special teams and as a blocking back, while he interns at Cam's position.

How do you leave Redmond off that list?

Look at it this way. Nick James will likely be the 5th DT. Redmond will be a bit player. Beniquez is not a Safety; I don't know who is saying that's his natural spot. I don't see Richie playing enough to make an enormous impact. Beniquez likely redshirts anyway; I see no reason for him to play in 2012. Also it makes more sense to work Richie at the Sam next season. Skinner is a junior and McKinney and Bohanna have the middle locked down the next three years.

I don't really see the purpose of Richie being used as a blocking back. He isn't a thumper like that.

That is why I put someone else as a choice on the list.

  • Bama wanted him as a S just saying...that said he'll be a OLB.

Richie will go the path Cam Lawrence did...start off on sp teams as a true fr.

  • Some on the list could make a big impact next year as a redshirt freshman, but I think the honor goes to quay and bell, cause they are 99% gonna see the field as true freshmen.

  • Got to be Quay. He looks way better than Fletcher Cox did when he got here and started what, like 8 or 9 games as a freshman?

It's Quay and it wont be close. I still think he starts no later than Game 6- could be as early as Game 3 (I have a feeling his talent will show during the Auburn game and that may be enough to slide him into the starters role). Nick James is that kind of player also, but Quay getting to practice this Spring was HUGE.

Ricjie has alot of talent but he will just be a special teams warrior- he wont get enough reps at LB to matter.

Bell and Redmond are the only only Freshmen that I can see having any impact at all. People are about to learn that we have a talented football team- and redshirting 18 or so guys a year pays off.

  • I hope the answer if F - Field Goal Kicker, whoever that is. Don't we have somebody new coming in?

Other than that - Quay Evans. But only because we're too loaded with Banks and Broomfield for Redmond to have a too big of an immediate impact.

I hope Richie Brown redshirts. If he's not gonna play much, he should redshirt. He has way too much upside as a redshirt freshman. No reason we should waste that by having him barely contribute this year.

  • Evans and Redmond, The reasons are they will most likely get playing time.

Next would be R. Brown and Bell both i think have a chance on special teams.

Now that i think about it Bell should be with Evans and Redmond. Bell's kickoffs could be HUGE for MSU.

James has a shot to play as well. But as posted earlier with 5 DT's it may be hard to burn a redshirt on him. A slimmed down James is SCARY though.

Antoine may not get as much PT as some think. At least i'm not sold on much f any early PT. This is even with the slim S numbers.

  • It's hard to say who will be an impact player because there is such a huge difference in any level of high school ball and the SEC. It speaks volumes that almost every single player of ours that redshirted will tell you that they needed to, they had so much to learn and the game goes so much faster than it did in high school.

That said, Will Redmond might be the most athletic guy coming in. Quadry Antoine can deliver lumber better than Home Depot, Richie Brown is amazingly fast for his size and is a really heads-up player.

  • Really...maybe we've covered this, but...who's going to kick field goals? The spring game was Croomtastic for kickers.
