    Thats not playing the race card. You cant say, "(insert black players name) did that like he was chasing a bucket of chicken. Just like you couldnt say, "I dont think Welker will be effective because white people are too slow". I dont think either is appropriate and I was shocked when I heard this as were his co-host

    No because thats not a "white" stereotype. Its the use of a racial stereotype which makes it wrong DOA. Even though we dont always agree, Ive seen you post long enough to know you are intelligent enough to understand why that statement is inappropriate.

  • I dont think Terry Bradshaw is racist. I am sure he realized it after he said it that it wasnt the right thing to say, but if youve heard Terry Bradshaw talk you know he is not smart enough to have some sort of veiled racist remark like that.

    Oh I agree TrueMaroon. Nowhere in my op did I state that Terry Bradshaw is a racist. I dont believe that. I said he went too far and it was inappropriate.

    While Im at it, BulldogBacker, do you think that is good natured "country boy humor"? Would you be comfortable if someone next to you said that in Jon Banks mothers presence? I wouldnt and thats what Im basing my moral judgement on

  • I don't think he was racist, but it shouldn't have been said on national tv. The fact that those jokes are made in general is enough reason for him to have not said it. Stupid move by him

    I appreciate your kind words stoms and I am trying to be fair here but if black Americans are ever going to move forward into social equality then the playing field has to be even. I think the "Chicken" incident is pushing the issue into something else, and that breeds unequal discontent. I hear literally hundreds of students each week use the "N" word. And I have to explain to white students why it isn't ok for anyone to use that word. But now the use of the "N" word has become a social defiance that black students throw into the face of white and Latino students. Defiance in this manner is never positive and is inherently unequal.

    Well thought out response DOA. I think some in this thread are jumping on the defensive (multiple dv's etc...). I'm in my 20's and have many friends who are black. We may say things to each other similar or maybe worse than what Terry said to each other behind closed doors. But we have the sense to know you can't say that via a public platform b/c it's innapropriate in that setting
