Saw on twitter where the MHSAA director said Deon mix is the model student-athlete. He will be a leader for our team for several years to come. Heck, he is already one of the leaders of this class.

I thinks we have a good chance with him he is doing exactly what he needs to do and that is keep quiet if he commits to MSU early he will catch too much crap from the bears

I hope so but some mississippi folks claiming Conner is for sure going to TSUN.

I understand you guys are going to flame me, so go ahead. I will tell you what I know though.

In regards to Mix, I have known since Jan. he was ALL MSU. His mamma is a HUGE fan. I know her pretty well. I have also had the pleasure to talk with Tony Connors brother David a lot in the past few months. Ironically, he and Ms. Mix work together.

In David’s exact words to me on Tuesday of this week, "Its Ole Miss v Bama Baby!" He also told me Tony is turned off by Bama because the coaches there were none too happy he didn’t camp there. he said he would take his visits and announce after that. Take it for what thats worth, its thrid person I know. However, that person is Tonys brother. I also know for a fact that the money man in SP is doing everything he can to push Tony this way. Further, before you bring it up, Tony is NOT mad at coach Freeze. At one point, there was a little rub because of comments about David that Tony percieved to be insulting. That has been cleared up and is no longer an issue.

As for Shumpert, I have no inside info. Just reading between the lines it sounds like if he stays in state, he’s all yours. If he does not, he’s OSU. I think he is an OSU lean right now, but as the date gets closer, I think he’ll have second thoughts and sign with you guys.

I’m also a guy who thinks Kalio is going to go to State. I know he likes to bait us along with his quotes, but I think he just enjoys the spotlight. If he does switch, it won’t be because of football. He will only switch if he thinks our new track coach gives him a better shot at the Olympics than Yalls.

Of course they say that, they are still convinced they are getting Kailo Moore who is verbally committed to us so why shouldn't they believe they are getting Tony Conner who is on their doorstep and hasn't committed to anyone yet.

Yep, me too...he's not going to Ok St. and we have a much better shot at Tony than he thinks or is being led to believe. Trust me on that.

Whys that? He camped there and loved it. They have the NICEST facilities in all of sports! Nationally ranked program! Also, Shumpert has said over and over again he really does not care about staying in state. he’s only 50/50 to do so.

Agreed! This guy thinks Shumpert is an OSU lean? Come on man!!! He is only saying that because he knows he is a MSU lean and is hoping like crazy Shumpert goes to OSU instead of MSU. Shumpert and Thomas both will stay instate and go to MSU.

Conner is being very quiet about things which would scare me if I were an OM fan. Normally if a kid is an OM lean from SP you will know it. With Mix in Conner's ear all the time and with all the top instate players going to MSU I again would be very nervous if I were a Reb. Finally, the horrible product that Conner will see on the field this year at OM would make me even more worried if I were a Reb. MSU should again go bowling and will probably win 8 games this year. That combined with a pitiful season at OM leads me to think Conner won't be at OM. From everything most people have heard it is a MSU vs. Bama battle for Conner. OM has a shot if they have a decent year but if you throw up a 3-9 then you have no shot and will probably lose a few recruits.

I don't think Tony knows where he's going to play football yet but I know we're in it as much as Bama and OM. As for Shump, I realize OSU has the nicest facilities but I think he ultimately wants to play in the best league in the country and in his home state and signs w us.

Ask yourself this question...how many MS kids sign out of state with a school not in SEC? Shumpert isn't going all the way to OSU and miss out on the SEC. He is a private MSU lean without making it public to all the media of sorts. He is trying to make it pretty obvious by not putting OM in his Top 4. That should just about tell everyone where he is leaning.

For Conner, who knows but on the field results this year is going to play a heavy role in what a lot of these kids think before signing day. That is why Freeze is making such a push to get kids in the boat before the season starts. He knows it is going to be bad and wants to do damage control by having a kid committed now. If Conner drags it out until official visit time then that is bad news for Ole Miss. Freeze's pre-season fluff won't work when results are actually seen on the field.
