STARKVILLE, Miss. --- Mississippi State takes on its third consecutive four-game weekend slate when the fifth-ranked Bulldogs (11-0) host first-time foe Saint Joseph’s (2-4) this weekend at Dudy Noble Field. Due to anticipated wintry weather, the weekend series schedule has been altered.
The MSU-SJU series gets underway Friday at 4 p.m. followed Saturday by a single game at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs and the Hawks close out the weekend with a Sunday twinbill set for a 1 p.m. start.
The radio broadcast of Friday’s series-opener will be carried on the statewide MSU Baseball Radio network while the Saturday and Sunday games will be local broadcasts only and heard in the Golden Triangle on WNMQ-FM (103.1). Live audio and multi-camera video streaming for all four MSU-SJU games will be available online to HailStateTV subscribers (http://www.hailstate.com/hstvlive).
The Bulldogs enter the weekend series after having registered a pair of lopsided midweek wins (13-2 and 17-5) over Rhode Island, another Atlantic 10 Conference foe. Junior first baseman Alex Detz (.423) delivered five hits and drove in five runs in the two-game set. The California native has taken the team RBI lead with 12 runs driven in. Junior outfielder C.T. Bradford (.366) has hit safely in his last seven games and has reached base safely in all 11 games this season. Junior shortstop Adam Frazier (.465) registered his sixth and seventh multi-hit games in the midweek and leads the Southeastern Conference with 20 hits.
Sophomore lefty Jacob Lindgren (1-0, 1.59) is tabbed for his third pitching start of the season in Friday’s series opener. Freshman lefty Jack Stover (0-0, 0.00) is expected to draw his first career start for the Hawks.
State begins the weekend with an SEC-best .336 team batting average and No. 3 league rankings in both staff earned run average (1.55) and fielding percentage (.980). The Bulldog defense leads the SEC with 14 double plays turned.
The stadium ticket office opens two hours prior to each game. General admission tickets cost $5 and are available each day and are good for open seating in the Dudy Noble Field grandstand where season ticket patrons are not present.
Paul, any kind of history on St. Joe's? Google ain't turning up much. A lot of St. Joe's out there.
Not much other than they are 2-4 right now.
Very good pitching staff. Last weekend they lost each game by one run. Their offense is struggling. Only two guys hitting in the .300

They scored 2 runs in 3 games against VCU
Yancy is like kudzu. You hate it, can't kill it, and is virtually worthless!
Jamie Moyer pitched for them back in the day.
I taught there for a couple of years, but that's all I know about SJU baseball.
Ceterum censeo Universitatem Mississippiae esse delendam.
when talking about jamie moyer, "back in the day" is SERIOUSLY "back in the day"
still hard to believe he pitched to some guys last year that werent born when his career started.
