Money talks, and that is part of the campaign. La Tech would take a fat check for us to buy out the game. We do have that option in the contract, too.
Money talks. We have the option to buyout a game in the contract, that is part of the campaign- attract donors to fork up the dough. La Tech would take the money.
Unless of course you don't consider within a few miles that area of town.
I find this funny considering they just moved their A&M game to Shreveport for more money
WAC teams have a huge travel budget, much bigger than what we face. They have to pay bills. They might say no- but it doesnt hurt to see if they would. Ruston to Jackson is only 2 hours, free hotel stay for them....pre-game meal provided by a local restaurant sponsor...
It can be done
Agree Paul, The last time I was at a game in Jackson there was a shooting inside the stadium. Additionally, it is a dump. As for revenue, unless something has changed the city will get the parking and concession money so don't count on any of that.
Are you kidding me? That's 4 miles away. Many towns in MS aren't even 4 miles wide. Some of you are really reaching here and being absolutely ridiculous.
How about this?
Get a grip, folks.
I tell you what. If we are successful with bringing a game to Jackson it will be huge. It will be exciting, and it will help the local economy- Jackson, Flowood, Madison, Brandon, etc- if you don't want to come, so be it. But I can guarantee you 60k other folks will attend while those of you being negative will be sitting on your couches not supporting your team with an "away" game here in OURSTATE.
Living in fear is just another way of dying before your time
I have no problem with MSU opponents moving their home game with MSU to Jackson but just dont see that happening. Shreveport is in their state obviously and Jackson is not. But if they want to then I am for it. I just dont want to see MSU ever move a home game from Starkville to Jackson.
That wont ever happen, Paul. This is only for an away OOC game. That is our plan. We will continue to have 7 home games in Starkville. It will be a privately funded venture to pull us away from those "Podunk U" fields.
Gotcha and that means I've been arguing for nothing, lol.
A whole 4 miles huh? Your the one reaching by trying to defend your city, to which I understand you have pride in it, but to compare it to Starkville crime is reaching way out there. I read an article in the ledger a couple days ago that said Jackson has already reached a total of 53 homicides this year, that is someone gettig killed in jackson every 5 days and that's just people murdered, not including armed robbery, attempted murder or any other major criminal offense. I don't know Starkville's homicide number for this year, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't compare to the 53 in Jackson.
