Wouldn't it be nice to just send your kid to school and get educated so they can be the best they can be?
Wasn't going to post much but this discussion is the best thing I've seen on this board.
Another thing I heard a teacher say, instead of cutting back on education funding, why not cut the # of legislatures. Merge districts. Lets say Clay Monroe Chickasaw Lowndes etc. I think she said Tex has half the # that Miss has. May be just a little off on what I heard.
In our history public and private have done good things. Just think no Vandy no Robert Penn Warren, no Muw no Eudora Welty. No Yale no George Bush. No Hawg U no Bill Clinton.
Something tells me things are not going to change. But yes the times they are a changin.
As a proud SHS alum, I gotta chime in here. StateMBA, you've got some nerve picking a fight with Starkville schools on an MSU board with nothing but politicized standardized test scores to go on. Tell me, have you driven around the campus at SHS recently? Much less walked down its many halls and wings? Doesn't look like a black eye to me. Looks more like a junior college campus to me. But that's just bricks and mortar, I know.
I graduated from SHS 19 years ago and from my fellow classmates we had students leave to attend silly places like Harvard, Penn, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Alabama, the U.S. Naval Academy and good ole MSU. Does that sound like a black eye?
AP courses are offered in every subject as well as a wealth of electives. Could their test scores be better? Absolutely? Do test scores merit a school district's worth? No, but unfortunately we're stuck with them.
And the Starkville Academy thing? Dude, you weren't even close. What sounds like a black eye is your false characterization of an entire school district and school (SA) based on absolutely nothing.
The one once known as wdh31.
All dogs go to heaven, rebels on the other hand....
not reading through all this because it doesnt really affect me but they also consolidated clay county and west point schools
$50 bet with Rebels10 - Best of 3 Egg Bowls
**the $50 goes to others schools athletics dept**
They should have done this years ago. The Clay Co school district doesnt even have a HS no need for there to be 2 school districts there.
Yancy is like kudzu. You hate it, can't kill it, and is virtually worthless!
Living in fear is just another way of dying before your time
