I do agree that we need guys like Brandon Woodruff and Jacob Lindgren that can light up a radar guy and be weekend starters, but you also need some guys like Luis Pollorena and Caleb Reed that are going to be good college players and can do some role player type things as well.

Deise definately falls into the role player category- he's someone that can help our bullpen out and match up against left handed hitters.

And yes, any SEC team is going to need three year guys that get drafted after their junior year, but it's also critical to have some seniors that are solid baseball players to provide leadership and stability- not saying that juniors can't do that, but there is a lot of value in having guys like Jarrod Parks, Brent Brownlee, etc on your team as well. The role players balance out the lineup.

It's not that bad, but it's not that deep. Not as deep as it has been in recent years. What's kind of weird is you have probably the best prospect to come through Mississippi since Kirk Presley in Anthony Alford, and then you have a gap- I would say Zach Irwin is probably the second best in state draft prospect. The guy from Southeast Lauderdale- Ladarius Something? (GURU!) is also a likely draft prospect as well. Aside from those three- unless someone emerges like Hunter Renfroe did- and that's actually quite likely- that's about it for this year for Mississippi.

Jacob Shempert from Houston is going to be a very good college player- but his size is going to be an issue with MLB scouts. Hunter DuVall, who has committed to LSU from Centreville Academy also kind of falls in the same boat as Shempert- good player, but he is only 5'10" or so. And then you have Matt Denny who Ole Miss wanted to walk-on- and he's probably top five players in the state. All three of those players will get drafted late- and actually I don't think they will get drafted at all personally.
