Bad news update - MSU-Memphis Comcast

  • first, i live in meridian

    i was scrolling forward to set up a recording for the MSU-Memphis game so that i can watch it again after watching it live and i see that the date/time/channel of our event, comcast in meridian has a Braves game scheduled.

    the reason i come on here, is that i'm writing a complaint e-mail to get it changed. And i'm asking that any of you in the meridian area do the same, and if some of you from elsewhere want to send in an e-mail it would be greatly appreciated too.

    i was thinking about doing a season opener viewing party at my house and it would go much better if we actually have the game on TV. I would really rather spend a thursday night game at home than at the bar.

    if anyone that wants to throw in a complaint e-mail, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • The guides for FSN/SportSouth/Fox Sports South are rarely correct, especially in local markets with regards to sporting events. I feel confident you'll be able to find it on one of the channels I mentioned.

  • I think i read that the MSU game will be on SportsSouth, Fox Sports South will be carrying the Braves game. Those channels get confusing.

    I think to get this game on Direct TV you have to sign up for the regional sports package($20/mo). I think it comes on channel 649 or something like that.

    The SportsPack on Direct TV is $12.99/month and has the game on Channel 649. You have to keep it at least 30 days and can then drop it. I am assuming I can get the other non-conference games using this so I don't have to do ESPN Gameplan. I am also assuming I can get the conference games on ESPN or ESPN2.

    I don't know, however, if this applies everywhere. I'm in OK.

  • here is where i went first, and i posted the e-mail copied here. If i dont hear back from them shortly i will try another route but its the only place i came up with on their site.

    i may try to do the live chat with a rep as well.

  • I have it showing on SportsSouth, channel 402 on Comcast in Rankin County. This is the HD channel so I am sure they are showing it in SD if you haven't made the jump.

  • I've been wrong at least once before, but I think the FSN-South is one channel and Sports South is for sure a distinctly different channel, but both may be owned by Fox. (FSN stands for Fox Sports Net, I think).

  • You are correct. And most cable companies are ignorant to that fact. Cable One in Grenada was. And had no idea that Cable One in another part of the state carries both channels. Directv already ordered. Bad thing is, won't be installed til after the game.

  • That always causes confusion.

    If the game is on SportsSouth everyone THINKS that's Fox SportsSouth. It isn't. Totally different channel.

    So, the Braves game is probably on FOXSS and our game on SportsSouth, which I think is a Turner Network channel.

    i do know they are different, i have HD and the sports package as well. I have every channel comcast offers outside of the nudey package.

    on saturday i got so mad that i literally scrolled through the guide channel by channel making sure i wasnt wrong. The game is not listed at all on any channel Comcast has in Meridian. Thats not to say their guide isnt wrong but as of right now i dont see the game.

    and therefore i wrote the e-mail and i'm asking many others to do so as well.

    hell, if you live somewhere else and want to write an e-mail on my behalf i would be very thankful.

    there is a difference in choosing to go to the bar to watch a football game and being forced to go to the bar and watch the game. The difference being that i will be pissed the whole time instead of enjoying the game

    a lot of people say that but i run statelite at my camphouse

    i honestly think some people are just satelite people and some are cable people.

    nothing pisses me off more than watching a football game and losing it due to rain.
