Are we a stepping stone school in Basketball?

I know Stansbury was loyal and stayed for 14 years. There could be an argument made on both sides as to why but thats not the point. My question is if Stricklin makes a home run hire and we bring in a top notch assistant or mid major head coach will they use us as a stepping stone? Do we have the facilities and recruiting base to have long term continued success in basketball to keep a top tier coach here for the long term?

Just like with Mullen and football, I could care less if we lose a coach who builds the program up. We cross those bridges when we get to them, and the program looks like an incubator rather than a tomb in the meantime.

As a general rule, we are a stepping stone school for every major sport (save baseball). Baseball may be only the exception because we hired a former player whose family lives within 2 hours of Starkville. If we move on from Cohen in a few years (and I am not suggesting we do) and we bring in some hot shot up and comer, we will be a stepping stone for baseball as well. It comes with the price of success.
