A txt from a OM fan at their scrimmage yesterday

  • I got a laugh out of this... a guy I know was at OM scrimmage yesterday...I sent him a txt today asking him how did it go...this is what I got back...do note these are thoughts of a massive homer...a guy that really thought OM would be a player for the West title last yr.

"It was a cluster #$#@.....this was our new more talented D!!I wanted to go over and slap Nix right in the face for the cluster $#$% of #$#$ he put on the field...it wasn't just the players but it's the same #@#$ system and play calling as last yr!I want to ask him dude are you a retard or something..I mean didn't you learn anything from last yr!We had true Fr WR's running everywhere for big yards...RB's going for 15 and 20yards a pop...but wait then a RB gets just two yards after giving up tons of yards and there is Nix's dumb@!# giving the landshark sign..I mean are you f'n joking me!Then I was told both DT's are out so a guy pointed one out to me and I was like are you f'n joking...that fat lard who might be 6' is a starting DT....he makes Powe look in shape....the O looked about like last yr will be up and down but Nix is a joke and it's going to be a long season for it."

  • I really hate it for them. By hearing most of their fans talk, they should give up less than 10 points a game with only cj and golson on the field.

  • CJ hasn't been having the best camp from what I've heard..

  • Their interior DL is pathetic! They're throwing out two RS freshmen and got a juco DT from NY. I assume he's referencing Martin about not being 6 feet tall. I look forward to Ballard and Relf hammering them up the middle with a four year starter at center, a guy with 500 lb bench press(smith) and an all SEC guard(Jackson)

They won't be able to stop BYU and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

I was listening to Head2Head last week and Chuck from Spirit said he thinks C.J. ends up on the defensive line. Already around 250 lbs.

I thought it was interesting to hear that from a Rebel Homer like Chuck.

He might have been talking about the JUCO DT from Cal as well.

  • I can't see them beating BYU and even tho they have the 3rd worst atmosphere in the SEC (UK and Vandy being the bottom 2)it's still a SEC team at home so can never over look that.

  • I have heard that CJ showed up this summer woefully out of shape and looking like he had not hit the weights very hard at all. My guy said he looks good for the 1st couple of plays but then is totally gassed and ineffective. He said true freshmen LB's Lewis and Bryant are in much better shape and that Lewis is head and shoulders better than CJ at this point.
The last thing he said really surprised me and not sure I believe it but he said if DJ would not have gotten hurt then CJ would have redshirted so could either put on 20-30lbs to be moved to the DL or lose about 20 to 30lbs to get down to his ideal weight of around 220lbs due to being only 6'1 1/2 to maybe 6'2" with cleats on and being a little chunky!

I must say I really enjoyed that report and this came from a true TSUN Homer

  • CJ will never be 220 lol...he was a tad over 240 when he took his MSU visit in Jan....he will be around the 255 to 260 mark in a yr.

  • I'm really torn on this season for the Bears. I would love to see them go winless, but I don't want them to be bad enough to clean house. I wish Malzahn would go ahead and land a job somewhere, then I'll feel better about hoping OM goes winless at some point. With him still out there, I'm hoping Nutt stays around.

Living in the middle of Bear country (Oxford), I get some pretty good firsthand accounts from friends around here. None that I have talked to are putting much faith in the season. I know the thread talks mainly about the D, but hearing folks around here talk, the O won't be up to last years standards as well. QB will be a weakness.

  • OM won't and can't fire Nutt....to much money to get rid of him.....even tho it won't come cheap to get rid of Nix it's cheaper to just throw him under the bus and get rid of him.

  • I love hearing Nutt talk QB's....ever since he has been in the SEC he has talked up every QB on roster to the press doing the samething this yr...that isn't the best way to handle things like that...but guess he hasn't learnedHe is know as the QB killer for a reason tho.

  • Nix will be the sacrificial lamb after this season, they will hire a new DC and will once again be World Beaters.

  • Malzahn should pick his HC job after this year but there should be several better opportunities than TSUN if Nutt is shown the door. Knowing the strength of the SEC, he might look elsewhere plus he turned down Vandy which is similar to TSUN.
Destinations for Gus that could be open after this year better than TSUN: Clemson, UCLA, Illinois, Arizona State, Purdue, or Colorado State. Possibly even North Carolina depending on sanctions or West Virginia, the whole coach in waiting fiasco has been a disaster so if new coach flops you could see the program start fresh.

The new Def coordinator is coaching the secondary now, Keith Burns. I predict he will be running the defense before season's end. He was Nutt's DC at Arkansas. This is a move to keep as much team chemistry as possible with the black players. By having Burns on staff now he gets to form a relationship with the defensive players now.

    Didn't know that.

Reminds me of Titus Brown. Titus played real well at LB early in his career. I thought Sly Croom (Ellis Johnson?) was nuts for moving him to DE. Shows what I know.

  • Heat will not be an issue with BYU. Average temperature in Provo is around 90-92 this time of year. They train at high altitudes, have numerous players from the humid pacific islands, and are accustomed to play games in Texas and other Southern locales. The weather is the least of the worries for the Cougars. I see them play a lot. They are mature and experienced. If the BYU O-line gives Heaps any time (which it doesn't sound like the OM d-line will do much), BYU will shred them to pieces. It will all come down to their o-line. In a completely unbiased take, I don't think it will even be close.
