Short it's not a losers mentalilty, it's a realist mentality. The past 3 national champions have come from our at the time 6 team division, and another one played for the title, o yea the other one has also won 2 of their own in the last 10 years. The talent gap Mullen has to deal with year in and year out is at this point and time is very large. Yeah we are slowly but surely closing gap on some teams, but while we are having top 25 classes, bama and lsu are having top 3 classes, so according to incoming talent that gap is growing larger. We can get away with losing the crootin battle to Ole Miss and still beat them as long as they have crappy coaching, but unfortunately for us some of those other teams that are beating us in crootin also have hall of fame coaches. And yes before you give me the smartass Les Miles a hall of a famer really??? Comment, he has a crystal ball, and is LSU's all time winningest coach by percentage. and has a w/l record of 103-39. So yes even though he is a moron at times, he is a hall of fame coach.

That is a ridiculous notion. We have 2 games on our schedule that are almost guaranteed losses for anyone in the country (@LSU and @Bama). So those 2 aside, to reach 9-3, that means we have to go 9-1 in the other 10 games. Its possible we could do that but not a high likelihood. We would need to be very fortunate in a lot of close games for that to have a chance to happen. In case anyone hadn't noticed teams like Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, TX A&M etc. have a few talented players as well.
